Easter

Easter is celebrated as the religious holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Originally, Easter was a Pagan Festival
Ancient Saxon celebrated the return of Spring and their Goddess of Eastre
The Easter bunny was the earthly symbol of Eastre
The cross is a year round symbol of Christianity
The early name was eventually changed to Easter
The Easter egg is a custom the predates the Christian Easter holiday
People exchanged eggs in the springtime among friends and relatives
They were wrapped in gold leaves or boiled in colored water
The eggs represented the new life that Spring brings after the winter
Decorations of leaves, flowers or petals were tied onto the eggs and goiled.
When dried the leave's or flower's imprints were left on the eggs making them very colorful
Nowadays, children decorate the eggs with color and glitter.
